Do I need to book my tickets in advance?

Bookings are required for schools and groups of 20 or more.

Bookings are strongly recommended for groups of 10 patrons or more.

Tickets can be purchased online, or from the Australian Sports Museum Ticket Booth located inside Gate 3 of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Can I take photographs within the Australian Sports Museum?

Museum visitors are permitted to take non-commercial photographs within the National Sports Museum and MCC Museum.

Some exceptions to this policy may be put in place for reasons of security, conservation or in the interests of the overall visitor experience.

Restrictions may also apply where items (or entire exhibitions) are on loan to the museum, but these exceptions will be clearly signed. Camera tripods are not permitted at any time.

What items are prohibited at the Australian Sports Museum?

The following items are not permitted in the National Sports Museum:
• Food and drink (except for bottled water)
• Animals (exceptions for guide or hearing purposes)
• Rollerblades, bikes, skateboards or scooters

Once I have entered, can I leave and return to the Australian Sports Museum?

Visitors are able to depart the museum and return on the same day as many times as they wish, on presentation of their admission ticket. Tickets cannot be transferred.

Can I donate or loan an object to the Australian Sports Museum?

The Australian Sports Museum collects objects relating to all sports played in Australia or by Australians, and welcomes donations of relevant and suitable objects.

Donating an object to the Australian Sports Museum is the permanent transfer of ownership of the object to Australian Sports Museum Limited.

Once the donation process is complete, objects then become available for use in exhibitions or for research by appointment.
