Australian Sports Museum Reopens

The Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours will reopen from 10:00am AEST, Saturday 20 November, following the Victorian Government’s announcement on the easing of restrictions.

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), as managers of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Australian Sports Museum, is committed to taking all of the necessary precautions outlined by the Government and health authorities in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Do I need to be vaccinated to visit the Australian Sports Museum?2021-11-22T14:07:58+10:00

In line with the current Victorian Government health directives, all venues within the MCG including the Australian Sports Museum will only be accessible to fully vaccinated patrons (over the age of 12 years & 2 months). Children under 12 years & 2 months do not need to be vaccinated but must be accompanied by fully vaccinated adults.

Unvaccinated patrons will not be permitted to enter the MCG, unless they are able to display a valid immunisation medical exemption provided by a Victorian Government-approved health professional.

What measures and standards of cleaning are in place to keep the public safe?2020-11-17T10:37:40+10:00

The Australian Sports Museum’s highest priority is to ensure the continued health and safety of visitors and staff. We have implemented measures to assist in physical distancing, increased personal hygiene and cleaning in line with the latest Victorian Government and Department of Health and Human Services guidelines.

This means that all communal or shared equipment within the museum will be disinfected and cleaned between every use.

How will the Australian Sports Museum be contact tracing?2020-11-19T09:30:56+10:00

Upon arrival and exit of the Australian Sports Museum, patrons will be required to scan a QR code for contact tracing purposes. Enabling us to be informed of your exact movements. This data is captured in accordance with MCG Privacy Policies and will be disposed of after 28 days, as outlined by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. After this time, all records will be deleted.

Face masks, physical distancing, what are the rules when visiting?2021-11-19T11:28:25+10:00

The Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours will be adhering to the current Victorian Department of Health and Human Services guidelines.

When visiting the Australian Sports Museum and/or take a MCG Tour, we ask you to abide by the Rules of Play.

  • QR Codes. All attendees will be required to check-in upon entry to the MCG via Gate 3, using the displayed QR code via the Service Victoria app and bring up their COVID-19 digital certificate to display to MCG staff at the entrance gate in one of two ways:
    1. Scan the QR code outside the entrance gate using the Services Victoria App on your smart device
    2. Show their COVID-19 digital certificate in the same smart wallet on their device
    For patrons without a smart device, they will be required to provide a printed version of the COVID-19 digital certificate or Immunisation History statement, which can be used as evidence of vaccination.
  • Clean hands! Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene by washing your hands regularly and using the hand sanitiser stations and wipes provided throughout the museum and tour route.
  • Protect the head. Following the current Victorian Government restrictions, face masks will no longer be required inside the Australian Sports Museum and on a MCG Tour. However, please ensure you are carrying one to wear if unable to maintain a 1.5m distance.
  • Stay at least a couple of cricket bats apart. Please remain at least 1.5m apart from anyone who isn’t in your household. Please follow the floor targets to assist in physical distancing.
Are there any food and beverage facilities open inside the MCG?2021-11-19T11:37:01+10:00

The MCG Shop and Paddock Café inside Gate 3 of the MCG will also re-open from November 20.

Please note, if visiting Paddock Café you will also need to sign in via the QR code upon entry.

Are MCG Tours running as normal?2021-11-19T11:32:36+10:00

MCG Tours will recommence on Saturday November 20 for the general public and open 7 days, excluding MCG events days.

MCG Tours operate from 10am with the last tour leaving at 3pm. Book your experience here.

Help! I’m not feeling well, can I get a refund on my ticket?2021-03-11T12:45:30+10:00

Yes! If you, or an immediate family member appears to be unwell and is showing known symptoms of COVID-19 – including cough, chills or sweats, sore throat and/or shortness of breath – you need to bow out and opt to reschedule for another time.

You will be able to apply for a refund or ticket exchange by emailing contactus@australiansportsmuseum.org.au. Please note, proof of purchase may be required for any refund, exchange or rescheduling.

 

I’m an MCC Member, do I get a discount?2021-11-05T13:27:50+10:00

From Saturday November 20, MCG Tours and the Australian Sports Museum will re-open to the public 7 days a week, excluding event days.

Tickets for both the MCG Tours and Australian Sports Museum need to be pre-booked to assist with capacity management and contact tracing. The MCC is pleased to confirm that MCC members will receive free access to the MCG Tours and the Australian Sports Museum.

Yes! You must pre-purchase your ticket prior to arriving at Gate 3 of the MCG.
